What website design involves

Generally, the first thing people think of when talking about a website is how it looks. Of course, it's important that it looks pleasant but there are other things which are important, and that I design in to my sites.

Making the Website accessible (accessibility)

This is a very important part of a website. Making a website accessible allows people of all abilities to use your website, whether they can see the screen or not. It is surprising to know, but many websites are still not accessible. Read more about accessibility.

Making the website easy to use

This really means making the site simple to use. A user may not want to spend ages trying to work out how to use something on a website, they would most likely prefer to find what they are looking for. It also allows people who have different types of computers, or different browsers or screens to be able to use the website.

Giving the website Good Navigation

Website navigation has to make sense to someone who is visiting your website. It is important that the menus available are easy to use, and are organised so the customer does not get lost in your site. If this happens they may leave.

Making the website appear in search engines (Google etc)

The way the website is designed means it should appear on search engines when someone searches for relevant items. You should not need to pay in order that your website has a chance of appearing in search engines. Making your website appear in search engine results is a free added bonus which will come about when the site is well programmed and optimised.

The costs involved with a website page explains more about what is involved, and what services can be charged extra for. (I do not charge extra for the services, they are included in my pricing packages).
